What we are trying to achieve
At Melrose we aim to deliver a curriculum that will enable all our young people to become successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve. We aim for the pupils to become confident individuals who are able to lead safe, healthy and fulfilling lives and that they become responsible citizens who will make a positive contribution to society.
These aims are challenging given the nature of the pupils that are referred to our school.
The vast majority have statements of special educational needs that reflect the pupils inability to conform within a mainstream setting, with a very small minority of pupils on emergency assessment places, so our curriculum has developed to reflect the needs of our pupils and help them to develop the skills they need to acquire for them to mature into responsible citizens.
We endeavour to ensure compliance with the every child matters agenda, so that our pupils; be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic wellbeing.
